Do you exfoliate?

Was Chatting with a lady friend of mine a few days ago and she mentioned that her skin is dull and makeup do not stay on her face, randomly I thought that this might be the problem hence I asked

Me: Do you exfoliate regularly?
Her: HUH? What is exfoliate? ( Puzzled look)
Me:Erm... you know like like scrub your face?
Her: You mean we have to?

What is Exfoliate?
Naturally, our skin exfloliate which pushes the dead skin cells to the surface of the skin and eventually it will dislodge from the skin with the forming of the new layer of cells. Use a exfloliating product helps this process along the way.

Do everyone needs to exfoliate?
The nature skin renewal process changes as we get older, slower in fact. Teenagers completely regenerate their skin every 14 days. And by the age of 40, the rate will probably slowed down to every 30-40 days and that results in dry and ashy looking skin.

Benefits of exfoliation
Proper exfloliation reduces the time of dead cells sitting on our skin and the exfoliation process get rids of dead cells and make room for newer and healthy cells to the surface of our skin. Our skin is not only smoother to touch and also vibrant. It improves your skin's ability to absorb other targeted skin treatments there after. Makeup application is smoother and lasts longer.

Can all skin types exfoliate?
All types of skin need some exfoliation, it's a matter of whether it requires or needs a high or low degree of exfoliation to shed off the old skin cells. There are many exfoliation products in the market and some are for real deep cleansing and hence harsher on the skin as compared to those which are for mild exfoliation.

Recent buys of exfloliation products:

L-R: Sana Salon De Porejo Peeling Gel, Cure Natural Aqua Gel, Vichy Purete Thermale Exfoliant Creme

The top one is Sana Salon De Porejo Peeling Gel which I applied on my left hand and Cure Natural Aqua Gel is below.

Sana Salon De Porejo Peeling Gel:
Texture is exactly gel like, when you press it out, it is a lump of clear gel with tiny red particles inside the gel.
Cure Natural Aqua Gel:

Texture is very watery and tends to slid down the surface which I find it pretty troublesome when I use it on my face and it gets onto my lips down my hands.

Results:
Sana De Porejo Peeling Gel:

As compare the white lumps are much bigger and it took me a shorter time to start seeing the lumps. The gel is stil pretty much around the area and you can continue rubbing the surface to see if more 'dead cells' is accumulated.
Cure Natural Aqua Gel:

If you realised, the pictures for the cure natural aqua gel is not as clear as the sana one is because the gel keeps slidding off and it is difficult to capture a good picture. It takes awhile to start seeing the white stuff and I won't call it lumps, it is like like tiny white particles. And by the time I see a little of those the gel has pretty much slidded down to the other side of my arms.

Texture of the skin after using is smooth for both the products, however I feel cleaner using SANA peeling gel for the consistency of the gel goes around the indicated area while I have a hard time trying to not let the Cure gel to slid and drip to my neck, hands and lips. I stopped using the Cure gel on my face and uses it on my body as the instructions indicated that it can be used on the body and it is pretty good for a mild exfoliation on my legs and arms.

My personal favourite have been used up by me and it will be the Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel .

Taken from their website

After using this, the skin is really smooth and clearly brighter. I am not a fan of the strawberry scent hence I do not love the smell of the product but do not hate it either, I have friends who find the strawberry scent super yummy though. It really balls up lumps quickly and effectively, the texture is creamy and it spreads nicely on the skin, almost like a treatment.

From their website:
Product BenefitsSuitable for all skin types, deep-nourishing Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel with twice the yogurt extracts, is especially effective for dull skin with a darkened tone. A fresh and light soft, creamy peel, it contains nano-sized spheres of the enzyme Papain. These reach deep-down to bring about long-term internal and external exfoliation, and boost skin renewal for a visibly more glowing complexion. Its Vitamin E content (visible as tiny red granules) affords skin added protection from free-radical oxidation, while the cellulose from plant extracts assures irritation-free exfoliation as it provides nourishment for the skin. Use 2 - 3 times a week.

  1. Doesn't the strawberry one smell divine! I like it a lot.. but I think it's one of those "fake" peeling gels unfortunately.. Because it always creates lumps no matter how many times you have already "peeled" the same spot... weird. I heard on TV that that means it's a fake peeling gel! But nevertheless, I like to use it, haha.

My absolute favorite body scrub is this one: http://www.salonhive.com/volcanic-butt-buffer-body-scrub.html

The real volcanic ash and mineral clay really exfoliate my skin. They leave it soft and glowing all day.
